Stuff is Stuff!

Stuff is just stuff-Thursday-Tornado After the storm!

As our Lord went about teaching the people He spoke in parables. He did this so that a man truly seeking God would ferret out its meaning. There were/are many that chose to be satisfied in their current state, also there are some with a hunger. A hunger no food or drink can satisfy. The void in their being is crying to be filled with God. When disobedience came into the world our intimate union with God was cut off unless you choose to search for it. God could MAKE us want Him, or love Him but He wants it to be of our own free will. He wants us to desire union with Him. God wants us to realize the treasure of communion with Him to where a man is willing to sacrifice all to get the communion of God. Our sacrifices are minimal compared to the sacrifice made at Calvary. Jesus offered Himself in place of you, in place of me, in place of us all. The most saddening thing is there will be a great number that has heard the gospel that turns their backs to the gift of life.

Matthew 13: 44-45
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

He stands at the door and knocks but the door isn’t shut it is ajar. We are unwilling to clear away the “stuff” in our lives we are trying to hold on to so we can fully open the door to Him. He is a gentleman and He will not push His way in, we have to open the door for Him to feel welcome. If you look around in your life at the “Stuff” you treasure ask yourself, “If that got in my way of serving the Lord would I get rid of it?” All of the things you have right now that you treasure so much will belong to someone else 1/1,000,000th of a second after you die. There is nothing you can take with you except love. I have never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul. You can’t take “Stuff” with you, but you can send it ahead. Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21 that you can lay up your treasures where they will not go to someone else after you leave.

Matthew 6:19-21 (New International Version, ©2010)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

What you possess right now could be someone’s answer to the prayer being sent up to God.  Let God use you as a blessing to others and trust me you will experience blessings you have never dreamed of.

How can you lay up treasures in Heaven you are wondering? Well, as I understand it Jesus said to love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Then love your neighbor as you love yourself. Each kindness, each action in the service of God, each action in service to those that can’t “pay you back”, each gesture from your heart to lift someone that is down all may as well be a deposit slip into the “1st Heavenly Bank and Trust”. One time my job wasn’t that good and my car had broken down again. In a few days I received an envelope from the church I was attending with a 400 dollar check inside. Me being a proud (sinful) man I called the church and was told a donor, that would remain anonymous, gave the money and requested it be “funneled” through the church so I couldn’t know who it was. I got up in church, not being so prideful, testified of the great thing God had done for me. The person/s that did that made a huge deposit to their treasure in Heaven. If they had made it known, as Jesus said, they would have gotten their reward in the admiration of men. There are many ways you can lay up your treasure in Heaven but the best way, I think, is to love God, honor God, praise God, worship God. God isn’t out to “get” us; He is our Papa, our Daddy, our ABBA (dear Father).
