Faith Without Works is Dead, Works Without Faith is Dead.

James 2:14-18
Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.  18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”    Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

James came straight out and said that “faith without works is dead” meaning you can believe all day long God will help someone but if you don’t allow God to use your hands to help you are only wishing someone well.  Let the spirit of God to use your resources, talents, abilities, actions to minister to a lost and dying world.  It is extremely important I mention here to give God the glory for everything.  Suddenly when you start allowing yourself to be used as God’s hands then you will find people stepping up to you constantly telling you how good and talented you are making you feel good about yourself instead of marveling at the goodness of God.  Pride is a dangerous place to live.  Being proud of someone else, or being proud of your God is the better place to be.

Scripture list pride amongst other sins:
Mark 7:21-23 (Amplified Bible)
21For from within, [that is] out of the hearts of men, come base and wicked thoughts, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery, 22Coveting (a greedy desire to have more wealth), dangerous and destructive wickedness, deceit; unrestrained (indecent) conduct; an evil eye (envy), slander (evil speaking, malicious misrepresentation, abusiveness), pride (the sin of an uplifted heart against God and man), foolishness (folly, lack of sense, recklessness, thoughtlessness). 23All these evil [purposes and desires] come from within, and they make the man unclean and render him unhallowed.

We are not saved BY good works, but we are saved FOR good works that have been prepared beforehand for us to do.  If we follow God we are always pressing forward FOR God’s kingdom.  The Lord’s prayer says, “Your will be done on Earth and it is in Heaven”  That is the thing we should be pressing towards with our every breath.  God loves us and God’s will is what we should hunger for as we serve Him.

James tells us that faith without works is dead but the pride of heart will lead people to a proud heart, proud of themselves instead of humbling themselves to the knowledge of one’s inability to do anything without the blessing of God the Father isn’t righteous before God.  Let me tell you how I can be sure of that.  The young ruler came to Jesus, the Christ, the very son of God, and said, “Good Master, what must I DO to be saved?”  Jesus looked at him and asked him, “Why do you call ME good?  There are NONE good but the Father!”  I feel that Jesus, even though of Him being God incarnate, knew that He was clothed in sinful flesh.  He was born into the flesh to save all flesh.  Jesus being the Holy Lamb of God came for our redemption back to the Father, ABBA, Papa.
